There are a total of 100 questions in the AIBE examination. Each question weighs one mark and candidates will be awarded one mark for each correct response

Earlier, the AIBE qualifying marks requirement was 40% for general/ OBC candidates and 35% for SC/ST candidates. However, from AIBE 18, BCI has increased the AIBE qualifying percentage for general/OBC category candidates to 45% and SC/ST candidates to 40%.

1. Constitutional Law

A total of 10 questions are asked on this topic in the exam. The following are some of the essential topics under Constitution Law.

  • Salient Features of the Indian Constitution
  • Fundamental rights
  • Legislative process
  • Directive principle of state policy
  • Emergency powers
  • Federalism

2. Indian Penal Code (IPC)

You can expect a maximum of 8 questions on this topic. Practising Important Questions for AIBE Exam will help enhance your preparation levels.

The questions are framed from the following topics in the AIBE exam.

  • General Principles of crime
  • Principles of criminal liability
  • Criminal act by several persons or groups (Section 34-38)
  • Offences affecting human life

3. Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC)

Under this topic, you can expect a maximum of 10 questions based on the following topics:

  • The introductory and pre-trial process
  • Salient features of the Juvenile justice
  • Salient features of the probation of offenders act
  • Criminal rules and practice

4. Code of Civil Procedure (CPC)

A total of 10 questions are asked from CPC in the exam. The  following topics are covered under the AIBE syllabus:

  • Difference between procedural law and substantive law
  • Suits in particular cases
  • Appearance and examination of parties such as discovery, inspection, and production of documents

5. Evidence Act

The following sub-topics are covered under the AIBE Syllabus of the evidence act: the difference between substantive law and procedural law, central conceptions in the law of evidence, relevancy & admissibility of confessions, character evidence, etc.

6. Alternative Dispute Redressal, including Arbitration Act

In the AIBE exam, 4 questions are asked on this topic. The following sub-topics are covered under this topic in the AIBE exam syllabus.

Different dispute resolution methods, such as inquisitorial and adversarial, and other methods like arbitration, conciliation, negotiation, and mediation.

7. Family Law

A total of 8 questions are asked under the AIBE Family Law Syllabus. Under this subject, you should focus on topics like Hindu law, Hindu undivided family, inheritance & succession, and the law relating to the Hindu minority & guardianship.

8. Public Interest Litigation

The following sub-topics are covered under public interest litigation of the AIBE syllabus:

  • Concept of public interest litigation in India
  • Procedural law in the public interest litigation
  • Judicial Activism to public interest litigation act
  • Role of the judiciary in the enforcement of rights through public interest litigation and social action litigation

9. Administrative Law

You can expect three questions on this topic in the exam. You can focus on the following important sub-topics under administrative law to enhance your AIBE Exam Preparation.

  • Nature & scope of administrative law
  • The judicial power of administration
  • Corporations and public undertakings

10. Professional Ethics & Cases of Professional Misconduct under BCI rules

The AIBE question paper includes four questions on this topic. The following are some of the topics covered under the AIBE Exam syllabus.

The legal profession and its responsibilities, the duty to the court, selected major supreme court judgments, and selected opinions of the Bar Council of India.

11. Company Law

A maximum of two questions are asked from this topic exam. It is essential to focus on the following topics:

  • The companies act of 1956
  • AOA
  • Issue of shares
  • SEBI Act, 1992
  • FEMA Act, 1999

12. Environmental Law

The essential topics under environmental law are the idea of the environment, environmental policy & law, prevention and control of pollution, biological diversity & legal order, and the environment protection act of 1986.

13. Cyber Law

The following are essential topics under cyber law: fundamentals of cyberspace, intellectual property issues, cyberspace, Indian penal law & cybercrimes, obscenity & pornography, change in Indian law, distal evidence, investigation & adjudication issues.

14. Labour & Industrial Laws

A total of questions are asked on topics like the industrial disputes act of 1947, the trade unions act of 1926, labour welfare legislation, and the minimum wages act of 1948.

15. Law of Tort, including the Motor Vehicle Act and Consumer Protection Law

You can expect a maximum of 5 questions on this topic. The following topics are covered under this topic:

  • The general condition of liability in tort
  • Justification of tort
  • Remedies and damages
  • Personal capacity
  • Consumer protection act, 1986

16. Law related to Taxation

The important topics under the AIBE syllabus are direct taxes, indirect taxes, customs, and duties.

A total of four questions are asked about taxation laws in the exam.

17. Land Acquisition Act

The topics covered under this topic include preliminary investigation, publication of the preliminary notification, payment of damages, declaration of intended acquisition, award by the collector, temporary occupation of land, and acquisition of land for companies.

18. Intellectual Property Laws

The topic covered under the intellectual property law of the AIBE syllabus includes the following:

  • Introductory aspects
  • Patents
  • Trademarks
  • Geographical indications
  • Indian copyright law

19. Law of Contract, Specific Relief, Property Laws, Negotiable Instrument Act

A maximum of eight questions are asked on the following topics: 

  • Validity, discharge, and performance of contract law

  • Bailment and pledge
  • Doctrine of election
